Judging a Photo Contest

I have recently asked to be one of the judges in the Everyman Professional photography contest 2010, there’s a lot of judges on the panel including bloggers and experienced writers.

In the first round of contest I have to select the finalist of the photo competition, for each category… I followed some basic rules…

  1. Relevance with category/theme
  2. Technically Correct
  3. Composition
  4. Visual impact

Most of the images filtered in the first point, most of the photographers do common mistake they upload images not relevant to category …

Final Round of Judging

When it came to final round of judging, among 5 finalist I have to select the winner/Best in Show now at this point it was really a hard time for me to select the winner….

I have written a letter when I have asked to select the grand prize winner… here are its main part…

The image that create a denser visual impact is  Anisur, Shippbreaker ,

So the Winner

Anisur, Shippbreaker

Why I have selected this image?

Balanced composition, unique perspective, Power to tell a story, selection of Black and White tone by artist creates Visual impact denser … I think these reasons are enough to make a winning shot.
